About Jason Duval

Jason Duval is the second playable protagonist of Grand Theft Auto VI and the male lead in the game's central Bonnie and Clyde-style story. He was first seen in Trailer 1 (December 2023) though not yet named, and was officially introduced with full details in Trailer 2 (May 2025).

Rockstar's official description: "Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder. Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners."

Unlike what early fan speculation suggested, Jason is not framed as an ex-military cartel operative — he's a working-class man from a criminal background who tried to go straight through the military and ended up back where he started. He lives in property owned by Brian Heder in the Keys area of Leonida and works as part of Heder's drug operation.

Rockstar's official tagline for Jason: "Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him. Jason knows how he'd like it to turn out but right now, it's hard to tell."

In Trailer 2, Jason is shown fixing a roof for tenants who've fallen behind on rent — a moment that paints him as someone not entirely comfortable with the life he's ended up in. He then drives to Leonida Penitentiary to pick up Lucia, and the main story begins from there.
