About Cal Hampton

Cal Hampton is Jason's close friend and a supporting character in Grand Theft Auto VI. He was officially confirmed by Rockstar in the character reveal accompanying Trailer 2 in May 2025.

Rockstar's official description of Cal: he works alongside Jason for their criminal landlord Brian Heder and is described as "somewhat paranoid and a bit of an internet conspiracy nut." Cal is content with a fairly normal suburban life — he spends his time listening in on Leonida's Coast Guard communications rather than chasing the kind of big scores Jason and Lucia dream about.

In Trailer 2, Cal is seen going out drinking with Jason and Lucia, and at one point asks Lucia if she has any friends she could hook him up with — a comedic beat that establishes his character immediately.

His conspiracy-minded nature and general paranoia are presented as character quirks, not sinister traits. He genuinely believes in some of the more outlandish theories circulating on Leonida's version of the internet. Whether that paranoia turns out to be justified anywhere in the story remains to be seen.
